From October 13-17, 2025, Rome, Italy,the International Centre fore Reindeer Husbandry and World Reindeer Herders together with Indigenous Peoples Unit of FAO are hosting the 3rd Global-Hub on Indigenous Peoples’ Food Systems convened in the NOMAD Indigenous FoodLab at UN FAO Headquarters, bringing together Indigenous and non-Indigenous experts to affirm and amplify Indigenous knowledge in food systems.
As an innovative think tank, the Global-Hub holds Indigenous and academic knowledge in equal regard—recognizing that Indigenous food and knowledge systems contain game-changing solutions for sustainability, resilience, and justice. (The Global-Hub is currently structured around thematic pillars including governance, biocultural diversity, co-creation of knowledge, and Indigenous health.) FAO
Over these days, participants engaged in dialogue, knowledge exchange, and collaboration aimed at influencing policies, co-creating evidence, and bringing forward Indigenous voices in global food governance.
