The seminar is organized under the auspices of the Northern Sustainable Development Forum in Yakutsk on September 27, 2021, and can be attended both offline and online.
Initiated by the “Digitalization of the Linguistic and Cultural Heritage of the Indigenous Peoples of the Arctic” Arctic Council SDWG project and inspired by the Arctic Council Permanent Participants, the seminar is a platform to discuss the protection of the intellectual property rights of Indigenous Peoples. Indigenous Peoples’ representatives and organizations, scientific and educational organizations collecting and documenting traditional knowledge, intellectual property experts, and Indigenous youth are invited to participate in the discussion.Mr. Nikolay Korchunov, Ambassador at Large for the Arctic Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Russia, Senior Arctic Official of the Russian Federation to the Arctic Council, will open the seminar.
The seminar is organized by the Russian Chairmanship of the Arctic Council, Association of World Reindeer Herders, International Center for Reindeer Husbandry, Arctic Council Indigenous Peoples’ Secretariat, UArctic EALAT Institute, Ministry for Arctic Development and Indigenous Peoples Affairs of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) and M.K. Ammosov North-Eastern Federal University.

Cеминар “Права интеллектуальной собственности коренных народов на знания, культуру и языки в эпоху цифровизации” пройдет в рамках Северного форума по устойчивому развитию в г. Якутске 27 сентября 2021г., а также в режиме онлайн.
Семинар инициирован проектом Арктического совета “Цифровизация языкового и культурного наследия коренных народов Арктики” и является площадкой для обсуждения прав интеллектуальной собственности коренных народов. К обсуждению приглашаются представители и организации коренных народов, научные и образовательные организации, занимающиеся сбором и документированием традиционных знаний, эксперты в области интеллектуальной собственности, а также коренная молодежь.
Семинар откроет Корчунов Николай Викторович, посол по особым поручениям Министерства иностранных дел РФ, председатель Комитета старших должностных лиц Арктического совета.
Организаторами семинара выступают: Председательство РФ в Арктическом совете, Ассоциация “Оленеводы Мира”, Международный центр оленеводства, Министерство по развитию Арктики и делам народов Севера Республики Саха (Якутия), Кафедра ЮНЕСКО “Адаптация общества и человека в арктических регионах в условиях изменения климата” СВФУ им. М.К. Аммосова, Институт циркумполярного оленеводства Университета Арктики, Секретариат коренных народов Арктического совета.
