Аn article about EALLU project was published in the anniversary issue of the Arctic сouncil magazine 


The new issue of the Arctic Council magazine Pathways highlights the stories of people, projects, and examples of international collaboration that have made the Arctic Council a success. This special 25th-anniversary issue of the Arctic Council explores the creation of the council and the people who pioneered the organization.

On page 46 of the magazine, you can find an article about the EALLU project and the food systems of indigenous peoples in the Arctic, which highlights the role of traditional knowledge for sustainable development.

The Arctic and sub-Arctic environment, climate and biodiversity are changing in ways unprecedented in our long histories in the North, challenging traditional ways of life, wellbeing and food security, and constituting a legitimate concern for the future. Indigenous reindeer herders’ adaptation to new hazards in the Arctic such as loss of pasture lands is exacerbated by a changing climate. Traditional ways of life, well-being, and food security are challenged, which makes to worry about the future of Indigenous peoples. There is a concern that the food culture of Indigenous peoples will be strongly affected. Traditional sources of food for Indigenous peoples, such as reindeer herding, fishing, hunting and gathering berries and other food resources, is a part of the lifestyle, based on experience and knowledge.
