UArctic EALÁT Institute aims for excellence by including both reindeer herders traditional knowledge and science-based knowledge in research, training and educational programs and in planning of scientific activities for Arctic indigenous peoples. UArctic EALÁT Institute facilitates communication between holders of traditional knowledge and participants conducting scientific activities, and furthermore facilitates the participation of youth indigenous holders of traditional knowledge in scientific activities. UArctic EALÁT Institute is a legacy after the International Polar Year (IPY).
